is this cute?

Have you ever put together a new outfit thinking you're totally creative,

—And then leave the house only to worry it might actually be horribly wrong?

Second guessing your outfit

is the worst.

Spring tends to be the time of year I get really inspired in my own closet.

Suddenly I'm whipping up completely new outfits without having added anything new in months. As if all it took were those couple extra hours of daylight to return the full scope of options to the back of my closet. It's like a dang family reunion up in there, long lost garments rejoicing!

I'm also gonna' go ahead and say it's not uncommon for your inspiration to go completely dormant along with everything else during a midwest winter. …Or anywhere winter has been wintering. Who else can confirm?

With that said, I'd like to give a full-smile, close-to-tears, thankful whisper to all my cute shoes, sleeveless tops, and light layers:

Welcome back ya'll…we did it.

(Survived style's hardest season, that is.)

It's been full speed ahead on lots of Spring wardrobes over here which is enough to have set me back on these newsletters. (Tell me you missed them!?)

For the discourse de jour I wanted to explore

the question in the header:

Have you ever put together a new outfit thinking you're totally creative,

—And then you get out in the world and you're hit with the worry that it might actually

be totally cringe?

It goes like this:

You have an exciting day planned and you want to wear something cute. Something fun. You're busy in your closet, soaring on a surge of inspiration, carefully workshopping your look and boldly affirming your risk all the while. Maybe it takes a little courage (and wayyy more time than you had planned) but you're going for it,

big earrings, boho hat and all.

Now fast forward to: You've left the house, the commute is over and you're at your destination. You catch your reflection on your way inside and suddenly the internal alarm bells start to go off,

“Oh God, is this outfit ridiculous?"

“Do I look like I'm trying too hard?”

“Am I overdressed?…”

S. O. S.

Maybe those thoughts creep in for you even without a whole production inside your closet. That's just every day getting dressed for you. Which is exactly why you keep the same “easy” outfits on rotation. Specifically to avoid any uncomfortable possibility that you could stick out too much or be sending the wrong message. Acting on a surge of inspiration? Not a chance. You have enough stress in your life without worrying about your clothes.

If you can relate to either of these scenarios,

I want you to know, I hate that for you.

Intrepid playfulness is the new

internal paralysis.

Let's wrangle your vibe and

map out those creative outfits.

It all starts with a conversation.

👇

I'm in the practice of making peace with all the things that can breed doubt for your style. The body image stuff. The mindset stuff. The imposter syndrome stuff. We're battling those things that make you want to shrink your outfit back to sweats and rub that lipstick off ASAP!

That doesn't mean the goal is your own personal Met Gala every time you leave the house. If your life is perennially casual we'll absolutely be keeping the outfit forecast realistic. But the ability to switch to superpower mode with your style when you want to— without the self-doubt— is attainable, worthwhile, and a particular catharsis I'm focused on with all of my clients.

My clients stop experiencing maligned energy because that's what our work together is about facing. Yes, we talk about the clothes, and the shopping, and all the hallmarks of what

hiring a personal stylist comes with. (I know my spring girlies are all about that Closet Edit

right now and I'm with you, sis!)

But the real breakthroughs of styling will come from within.

I'm just the guide/moderator/hypegal sent to help you scoop up all the wins that follow.

If you're ready to discover your unique formula for 100% positive self-talk approved outfits, book a chat and let's get you on your way!

Stay fly,

Stevie
